Embassy Spokesperson on UK sanctions against Chinese entities
2025/02/25

Question: On 24February, the UK government announced sanctions targeting entities and individuals of several countries, including 10 Chinese entitiesfor their supply of vital equipment for the Russian military. What is your comment?

Embassy Spokesperson:These are unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law. They harm the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies. China firmly opposes this and has made solemn representations to the UK side.

I would like to reiterate that, on the Ukraine issue, China’s position has been just and objective. China believes that dialogue and negotiation is the only viable way out of the crisis and has been committed to promoting talks for peace. China exercises strict export control over dual-use articles in accordance with laws and regulations. We never fan the flames or seek selfish gains, and we will certainly not accept being the scapegoat in any way.

We urge the UK side to rectify its wrongdoing and revoke sanctions against Chinese companies. We will take necessary measures to defend their lawful rights and interests.
