On 13th February, the Sai Pak Chinese Community Association of Northern Ireland hosted the Chinese New Year Gala in Londonderry, the second largest city in NI. Mr Yang Weixiong, Chairman of the Sai Pak Chinese Community Association delivered a welcome speech. Deputy Mayor of Londonderry Councillor John Boyle, Director of Bilateral Affairs of Chinese Consulate-General Consul Zhang Peng and Managing Director of Chinese Welfare Association NI(CWA NI) Mr. William Olphert also remarked to express their best wishes for the Chinese New Year. The chairman of CWA NI, Mr Huang Weicheng and more than 300 overseas Chinese and friends gathered to celebrate the Chinese New Year of Dog. The performance of Lion Dancing, Chinese folk dances and musical instruments by local Chinese community added a strong Chinese flavour to the Gala.
On behalf of Consul General Wang Shuying, Consul Zhang Peng extended New Year greetings and best wishes to all guests.
