On 9 September 2016, Consul General Wang Shuying visited SDC Trailers of Northern Ireland. She held talks with Managing Director Mark Cuskeran, and visited its manufacturing factory.

The host briefed about SDC's trailer manufacturing business and the acquisition of Retlan Manufacturing Group, holding company of SDC Trailers, by CMIC Vehicles of China. Wang Shuying introduced the main responsibilities of the Consulate-General and recent development of China-NI relationship. She stressed that the acquisition being made after the Brexit referendum showcased the confidence of Chinese enterprises in UK market, and indicated that the Chinese government would continue its efforts to build a Golden Era of China-UK relationship, and the Consulate-General would continuously provide facilitation and assistance for the economic and trade cooperation between China and Northern Ireland.
